The Microsoft Revolution: Windows LIVE!

Live_1There has been a lot of movement in Bill Gates’ camp since 2005. And almost the whole world noticed it already. 2006 is big for the great company already and by 2007 it’ll be bigger since it’s the date MS scheduled for us the official retail release of Windows Vista.

Microsoft at the moment is giving the public a test on how Vista would look like, sound like and feel like. Vista’s Beta builds and RC1 has been downloaded over 2million times already. MS Office 2007 Beta 2 has been download bandwidth reached more than 3 million Giga Bytes already and Windows Live content is getting bigger and better.

It’s noticeable how great Windows Live is. From http://www.live.com ; a regular internet user can already get all he/she needs in one website and get them in a much better and aesthetic-wise and performance-wise way. Live Search is already magnificent. One feature I loved most on it is the image search. NO NEED TO BROWSE OTHER PAGES! It’s all there in one page. Also, when you hover your mouse on the thumbnails, a java prompt showing the details and zooming the image is so good and efficient. Another feature of the Live image search is, when you click the image, IT DOESN’T NEED LEAVE THE PAGE! In fact, the "thumbnail page" will become a side panel (specifically on the left) and the page where the image is, will be shown on the bigger panel JUST ON THE VERY SAME PAGE! Now talk about efficiency and saving memory resources for your PC!

Windows Live (I believe) will be the ultimate next-generation desktop necessity in the near future. Windows Live Mail Desktop can already replace Outlook and anyone’s email service. (though, you need to have a POP3 mail account to be able to integrate your email accounts to Live Mail..of course.. hehe so good news for those who use GMAIL!) The color scheme of the Live Mail is also customizable so if the default color hurts your eyes, you can just change it.

The next best thing Windows Live released is the Live Messenger! Talk about stability and STYLE! Live Mail Desktop and Live Messenger has the same window scheme–very simplistic, stylish and most of all, NO MENU BAR! (you can choose to have it or not to have it but the default setting is, there’s no menu bar.) Instead, Microsoft placed another box together with the basic three..(minimize, restore, close) so that will make it four. The fourth is the menu. Windows Live also has this thing going on with Yahoo which is, the crossplatform messaging. You can send instant messages to your Yahoo friends from Live Messenger! and vice versa! NOW WHAT’S UP WITH THAT!

FYI: I migrated to Live messenger since YM is so buggy and I haven’t used it normally (doesn’t run normally for me) for over 4 months now.

Also, the synchronization of all the Windows Live software (gadgets as windows live call it) to the site and to your Windows Media Player! The song you’re currently playing in Windows Media Player 11 will be your status-in-real-time in Live messenger (if you chose it as your Live Messenger status)

Last but not the least… almost all the Windows Live gadgets can even tell you in an instant if there’s activity in your MSN Spaces/Live Spaces (blogging space of Windows) right down to your Live Mail or Live messenger. No hard feelings but, I can see already that many of us here in LJ will migrate to Live spaces. ( http://spaces.live.com )

Actually, I already made my own Spaces account: http://chinoyray.spaces.live.com
The features are great. Everything is customizable. You can even change the layout of your blog or space by just dragging the boxes. Add lists, remove features you don’t want and fully customizable theme and layout in short.

Microsoft is making a big change and it’s very promising. (Zune is even more stylish and better than iPod) Their Revolution has begun and they’re sure that the tides of war will not be against them.

Kudos to Microsoft! Good job guys! Do more! Create more!
